The Story of TavernCreative

TavernCreative began in a small bedroom of a house share in Lewisham. At the time, John was working full time at a luxury printers in Mayfair while freelancing on the side.

In October 2017, he took the leap, handed in his notice, and officially launched TavernCreative.

The dream was to make lots of sales and retire to a tropical island sipping Piña Coladas.

The reality was not a single sale for three and a half weeks.

With limited savings steadily disappearing, John was driving back to his hometown in Kent for the weekend when he heard the infamous Etsy cha ching. The very first sale.

From that moment, TavernCreative slowly began to grow. Reviews started rolling in, orders increased, and the studio began creating wedding stationery for couples across Kent, the UK, and beyond.

Like many small businesses, the pandemic brought uncertainty. Sales stopped overnight and everything paused for several months. But through the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, TavernCreative held on.

By 2022, weddings returned in force, and it was all systems go.

In 2023, the range expanded to include personalised gifts alongside wedding stationery, from custom travel accessories to thoughtful keepsakes. Today, we continue to evolve, investing in new finishes, tools and techniques to bring the best possible products to life.

You can now find TavernCreative on our website, Etsy, Not On The High Street, Amazon, and across social media. Most importantly, we remain a small, independent studio based in Kent, creating wedding stationery we are proud of and helping couples celebrate life’s biggest moments.
